After studying the composition of some store-bought masks, many are afraid to apply them to their own skin. But there is always a way out: you can make no less effective and safer remedies with your own hands.

In addition, regular care and use of natural skin care products will help you look healthier and protect yourself from the potential toxicity of sulfates and preservatives contained in store-bought products.

We share with you recipes for the simplest homemade DIY face masks, after which your skin will thank you.

1. From inflammation

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

How to use:

Mash banana until smooth, then add soda and yogurt. Apply on the face for 10–15 minutes and rinse off. This mask is good because bananas have medicinal properties that can be used to soothe a number of skin inflammations, including acne. There is evidence that bananas have even been used to treat burns and wounds because of their soothing properties.

2. For enlarged pores

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp yogurt
  • 1 tsp cosmetic clay
  • 1/2 tsp honey (optional, if there are no allergies)

How to use:

Mix the cosmetic clay with yogurt and honey as desired. Apply the mask on your face and keep it on for about 15–20 minutes. It is necessary to wash off the product with cool water. This mask will perfectly nourish your skin thanks to yogurt, which fights well with enlarged pores, inflammation, lightens pigment spots a little.

3. For dry skin

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • 1 Tbsp. Milk
  • 1 Tbsp Honey.

How to cook:

  • Blend mashed avocado, milk and honey.

How to use:

Apply and leave on for 10–15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Avocado contains “healthy” fats that are beneficial to the skin. It moisturizes dry skin, soothes it after a long stay in the sun. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that help prevent the appearance of acne.

4. Dark circles and puffiness

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon ground coffee
  • 1 pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp melted coconut oil

How to use:

Mix all ingredients and apply to cleansed skin under the eyes. Leave on for 5–10 minutes, then rinse off with warm water while gently massaging the face. This mask is good because it contains caffeine, which narrows the blood vessels, helping to fight puffiness and dark circles.

5. To tighten the skin

Ingredients:

  • Fresh ripe tomatoes

How to use:

Slice or chop the tomato and apply it on the face. You need to wash off the mask after 10 minutes. Rinse the skin with lukewarm water. Thanks to the lycopene contained in tomatoes, this mask nourishes, refreshes, tones, brightens and firms the skin.

6. For a healthy appearance

Ingredients:

  • One large cucumber

How to use:

Peel, slice or chop the cucumber. Strain the puree to remove the hard pieces before applying. Leave on the face for 15 minutes and rinse off with water. This mask is very beneficial for the skin because cucumbers are rich in vitamins: K, B5, A (or retinol) and C, which together have a very good effect on the skin.

7. To accelerate skin renewal

Ingredients:

  • Carrot
  • Water

How to use:

Peel the carrots, then blend them in a blender with the addition of a small amount of water to a pulp state. Apply to face for 15–20 minutes. The beta-carotene contained in it helps to heal micro wounds and gives the skin a healthy and radiant appearance, promoting its faster renewal.

8. To moisturize and exfoliate

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 5 drops of vitamin E

How to use:

Boil the oatmeal in water and let it cool down, add vitamin E to it. Then apply it on your face for 15–20 minutes and rinse off with water. Due to the non-coarse structure of oatmeal, this mask is also suitable for sensitive skin, exfoliating and moisturizing it.

9. From oily shine

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 medium potato
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

How to use:

Method 1: Slice the potatoes, wipe the face with one of the slices and leave for 10 minutes, then rinse.

Method 2: Grate raw potatoes on a fine grater and add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, mix and apply to the face, then rinse with cold water. Thanks to the starch, this mask will perfectly cope with oily shine on the face.

10. For a rested look

Ingredients:

  • Aloe Juice
  • 4 tablespoons pink clay

How to use:

Mix the clay with aloe to the consistency of sour cream. Apply on the face for 15–20 minutes, but do not let it dry so that it does not draw moisture from the skin. You can do this by spraying thermal water on your face when you see the mask starting to dry. Rinse with warm water. This mask is suitable even for sensitive skin and helps to cleanse and even out the complexion.

Before using any mask, be sure to test it on an inconspicuous area of the body to avoid allergic reactions.
